Tiny Particles and Conservation of Matter Experiment

Hi, this is Trevor. As a science test, I have to design an experiment that shows that particles are too tiny to be seen and that matter is always conserved.

Materials: balloon, scale, sharp scissors

First, I weighed the balloon. It weighed 1 gram.

Then I blew up the balloon.

Now there are tiny particles in the balloon that you cannot see. That's why the balloon got bigger. The tiny particles are trapped inside.

Then I popped the balloon with the scissors.

I weighed all the parts of the balloon and it weighs 1 gram again. This proves that matter is conserved. Even though the balloon got separated into tiny balloon parts, it still weighs the same.

Science is fun!
