C-Food for Lunch

With Trevor home doing distance learning during the pandemic, the three of us eat lunch together every day. Just before lunchtime, he noticed that I was moving seemingly random types of food from the kitchen to the dining room, where I was set up to take photos. After I made multiple trips, he finally asked what I was making for lunch. My answer was C-food. He was surprised, to say the least, until I clarified. Not seafood, of course. C-food.

This is my C-food lunch: cheese, crackers, cashews, cucumbers, carrots, craisins, and chocolate chips.

This is Trevor's C-food lunch. Same ingredients, but a quantity more appropriate for a 14-year old boy.

This would be a really fun way to do lunch for toddlers and kindergarteners who are working on letter recognition and letter sounds. Between cutting the plate and arranging the food, it's great for developing fine-motor skills, too.

Wash your hands thoroughly. Draw a letter C on the BACK of a paper plate. You can use a pencil; I used a Sharpie so that it would show up well for the photo.

Cut out the letter C, then place it right side up on a regular plate. Load up your C with finger-friendly C-foods you have on hand, such as cheese and crackers, cashews, celery, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, corn, coconut, craisins, and chocolate chips.

Trevor and I had a lot of fun brainstorming other letters to try. (Suffice it to say we will not be having piranha and penguin for a future lunch. We might, however, have peanuts, pecans, pears, peaches, and popcorn.)
