Halloween 2024

We spent Halloween 2024 with our friends Ken and Sheena. The plan had been for me to cook, but an ant invasion in our kitchen motivated us to move our dinner plans to a restaurant. A nice benefit was that the waitress took a group photo instead of us trying to do a group selfie.

I don't use a lot of Project Life style cards on my layouts, so it was fun to design a page with four of them. I did my journaling differently too; I typed it directly onto my photo before having it printed. I like the white on black for this page. 

Halloween 2022

I already shared this year's Halloween costume, where Steve and I dressed up as a "Spaghetti Western." Here's the scrapbook page from our Halloween festivities.

I paired a photo of Steve and me in our costumes with a group picture of the six of us around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows. I added three pieces of patterned paper (2 color blocks and the green sliver), grounded it with a border sticker, then decorated with more stickers. Everything on the page is from the same collection except for the number stickers. It's rare that I do that; as simple as they are, most of my pages have at least four manufacturers represented. This really simple page from 2011 (!) has ten manufacturers. I should try that challenge again and see how many I can use. 

Bash Bowl 2022: Halloween 2021

We just finished Week 2 of Bash Bowl and I am so happy with the pages I made! First up, Halloween 2021.

This week's playbook, while still a challenge, was much better for me than last week's. My Halloween layout earned five points for my team, Twisted Scissors: two for a layout with just black and white and one other color (orange); one for the word sticker at the top left; one for the glittered strip above the journaling; and one for completing the page using at least one requirement. 

As was the case last week, the hardest part was picking out all my products ahead of time and actually sticking with them. Here's my before picture:

There was one thing that made it a lot easier to stick to my intended supplies. For the first time in two years, I was scrapping somewhere other than at home. My scrappy BFFs and I met in person for a 12+ hour crop and it was fabulous. While our virtual get-togethers have been fun, I've really missed being in person with them.

Covid Halloween

Having friends over, going trick-or-treating, and passing out candy were out of the question, so we had to pivot from our usual routine for Halloween. (I'd add "pivot" to this list of choices for 2020 Word of the Year.) Following the guidelines of the CDC and state and county officials, we had a socially-distanced backyard get-together with our friends Ken, Sheena, and Devin. The weather was perfect and it was easy to maintain distance between our two households. We had a wonderful time sitting around their fire pit and catching up.

The layout came together quickly and easily. While it looks like there are six photos, there are actually only three. I made a collage of the four smaller photos and printed them as a single 4" x 6". I matted the three photos on a square of black cardstock, put that on Halloween patterned paper, added a title (using my all-time favorite letter stickers) and journaling, then adhered the paper strip and the embellishment. Super easy and I'm really happy with how it came out.
