Paper Plate Lion

One of my favorite things about throwing a themed party is DIY decorations.  For Trevor's upcoming Zoo Party, we made a classic preschool project, the Paper Plate Lion.

Step 1:  Paint a yellow circle on the inside portion of a cheap paper plate.

Step 2: Paint the corrugated outer portion of the plate brown.

(I always use a Frisbee as a paint palette.)

Step 3: Make cuts along the outside edge of the plate, cutting almost to the yellow center.  Gently curl some of the cut pieces forward.

Step 4:  Use a brown pen to add a cute lion face!

(Mine.)

(Trevor's.  Done entirely without any help.)

Stay tuned for more paper plate zoo animals and other zoo party decorations!
