Insta-Scrap It

The fourth Scrapbook.com National Scrapbook Day challenge I tackled was called Insta-Scrap It. The only requirement was to scrap at least four square photos.  I've been collecting photos of Trevor with his cousin Allison, so I decided to use those.  I found six pictures that I'd printed small and chopped them down into squares.

At this point, I could have just lined up the photos and quickly made a layout that reflected my usual style.  But since this was a challenge, I decided to truly challenge myself and use patterned paper with a huge printed element.  I never know what to do with papers like that, especially since I'm not keen on putting a single photo on a page.  I almost put the paper back about fifty times, but I made myself press on.

Eventually, I realized I could line the photos up like photo booth strips.  I added the title at the base of the flowers, tucked journaling into the top right, added some stickers below the photos, and then used the reverse of the cut-off tear strip to edge the bottom.  The finished layout is totally outside my comfort zone, but I kinda like it.

  4. Same here; I never know what to do with big printed elements. It's like they are already set to hang on the wall without doing anything to them! But I love how you made this one work. The colors go with the pictures wonderfully.
